Epoxy Flooring Systems

Epoxy flooring is a bonded resin system applied over prepared concrete. Done correctly, it seals the slab, resists chemicals and abrasion, and gives you a surface you can clean with a mop instead of a degreaser and a prayer.

In the Capital Region that last part matters. Garages take road salt. Basements take humidity. Shops take hot tires, oil, and steel wheels. A coating that looks good on install day and peels in March is not an epoxy problem. It is a prep and system problem.

Epoxy Done Right installs complete flooring systems — not a single rolled-on product from a kit. Most residential floors here use an epoxy or polyaspartic base, a decorative broadcast, and a polyaspartic topcoat. Commercial and wet areas may need quartz or urethane cement instead. Which system fits the space

Capital Region concrete is unforgiving - Freeze-thaw cycles open hairline cracks. Road salt rides in on tires and sits. Older Albany, Troy, and Rensselaer slabs were finished for utility, not coatings. Moisture vapor from below will blister a film that was rolled over a damp or untested slab. Garage floors

    Frequently Asked Questions

    Q. Can you coat over cracks without repairing them?

    A: Small dormant hairlines can be bridged by some systems. Open cracks, spalls, and anything that will collect water get repaired first. Skipping that is how the crack prints through in year one.

    Q: Do you grind every floor?

    A: Almost every coating job. Acid etch and “clean and roll” are not how we spec adhesion in this climate.

    Q: My epoxy peeled. Can you fix just the bad spots?

    A: Sometimes a contained repair works. Often the failing film has to come off and the floor gets rebuilt. We will tell you which after we see the slab.

    Q: How long does prep take?

    A: A typical residential garage is often prepped the first day and coated on the same schedule as the system allows. Heavy repair, coating removal, or moisture issues add time. The quote should say so.

    Q: Is concrete repair messy?

    A: Grinding makes dust. We use extraction and contain the work area. It is still a construction process, not a silent service call.

    Q: Do you repair outdoor concrete and driveways?

    A: We evaluate them. Many exterior slabs in this climate need a different system than an interior garage film. Ask with photos.
